In the past, Seth Dietrich, Manager of Monstrance and Rector of Christ Church Whitefish Bay has spoken out many times on this blog. Sometimes, it has been alleged, these writings are pseudigraphical. The writing below, however, has been verified by independent means. It’s his response to a reporter from The Living Church about his role with the band. It speaks for itself.
People often ask me how I helped shape Monstrance into what they are today. I’ll tell you it has not been easy. These guys are all so talented and they all have such grand visions for the direction of the band, that I spend a lot of time getting them to listen to one another. A lot of people call me the Rowan Williams of band managers because Williams was always trying to interpret one side to the other side so they might see their essential unity. When Fleishmann wants to follow in the footsteps of Devo (not Forward Day by Day) and Simmons is pushing for a sound like Art Garfunkel with blistering percussion, who do you think has to get in the thick of it and try to bring everyone to the table?I also think they have really thrived under my hands-off management style. Occasionally they have accused me of being too hands-off. Do I sometimes forget that they have a show? Yes. Do I sometimes forget that I am even their manager. Yes. But do I always carry them in my heart? Like heavy treasure.Feel free to submit other questions.Seth+
With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound they pull the structures of homelessness down… ROCKZILLA!!!
Deep in the caves below Madison, the seismologists of UW are supervising the installation of adamantium shock absorbers to make up for the pure release of the Rock in the Rampage between Monstrance and the Funraisers tomorrow. Hopefully, this will prevent Lake Monona from pouring into giant fissures, meeting the molten magma below, and causing steam explosions throughout the metro area.

MADISON! PREPARE FOR THE ROCK!!!!
Seismologists at UWM are pleased to hear of Monstrance’s next concert. They hope it may balance out the tectonic shift from River Hills.
Monstrance has, with the help of its manager (The Rev. Seth ‘The Greater” Dietrich of Christ Church, Whitefish Bay), secured prey. The Madison band The Funraisers has challenged Monstrance to a duel of Rock in order to benefit Porchlight. According to Seth:
“These Sucker MC’s have no idea what they are getting into. Monstrance will sweep the stage with the majesty of Rock. Now, excuse me, I have to get busy hulling green peanut M&Ms for Andy.”
The release will take place Tuesday, April 29th at 5:30 PM at the UW Madison Union South – The Sett.
More information will be forthcoming……
